Kaunta POS
We built Kaunta POS, a bilingual point of sale that runs on the phone already in the trader's pocket. It handles M-Pesa STK push, stock that counts itself, offline selling and locked end-of-day totals, and it grows into restaurant mode and a Windows till.
The challenge
Kenya's small traders run their shops from notebooks and memory. Stock goes missing without a trace, M-Pesa references get scribbled down by hand, and evening cash rarely matches the day. Existing POS systems assume a computer, a card reader and English.
